Snow Days...
We had a family weekend in Big Bear this weekend. The kids got to ski (Erik) and snowboard (Alyssa). Adrian and I relaxed in the Snow Summit lodge. I got some great knitting time in. I worked on an old knitted blanket that may take me my entire life to finish!! Here are some pictures of our fun...

Clean Sewing Room = Finished Block
I am doing the Designer BOM from the Fat Quarter Shop. I was convinced that I would faithfully complete my block each month. Who was I fooling!!! But... I found inspiration in my clean sewing room, so look what I did tonight...
Two down, seven to go...

Family Fun Day...
Yesterday was declared "Family Fun Day". We got up (not too early!) and headed to Six Flags Magic Mountain. We even got Alyssa to turn off her phone for most of the day!
Notice this picture is taken without leaving the ground!!
I did end up going on this ride at the end of the day. Let's just say it was the scariest ride I've ever been on!

I let them have all the fun, and the wet, water! It was only about 50 degrees, and Mom wanted to stay dry!!!It was a great day! I'm looking forward to more Family Fun Days!!!

Happy Quiche, I mean Valentines Day!!
My Valentines Day treat is a clean sewing room! I spent the day in there, expecting not to survive, but alas, it is now relatively neat and clean. Whooo hooo... I'm not willing to show the before, but here's the "after"!

One thing I found under the piles of *&^%, was my Mystery Block of the Month. I had promised myself I would stay on top of it. I guess I can give myself a break, because of everything I went through with my knee, but nows the time to get back to it!!! Look, some of the envelopes aren't even opened yet! Yikes!

Here's how some of the kids friends showed there love for us...

At least, I'm pretty sure it was the kids friends. It wasn't any of you was it?

Hello Scottie Dog Friends...
Sunday afternoon my friends, Brendalou, Liz and their family, visited the shop. Brendalou is the owner of Scottie Dog Quilts in Eureka, CA. We met through my group of shop owner friends, who share on a Yahoo group. It was so nice to see them and show them around my shop!!
You can meet some of my other shop owner friends here... We are offering a free block of the month, called "Village Garden". It's so cute! It uses fat quarters and some background fabric, but we have kits available too.

Cute & Crafty... and barfy dog
I watched my niece, Nicole (4) and nephew Jack (2) overnight last night. Fortunately, my Erik, their big cousin, came to help.
We had so much fun! While Jack was napping, Nicole and I made some of these... for their preschool friends. They are super easy and fun!
Auntie (ME) also knitted up a blanket, hat and part of a scarft for "Abigail Bakota", Nicole's preemie Cabbage Patch baby. It was just one of those spontaneous things that happened. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me so, you'll just have to imagine it. I'll try to get a picture from my sister.
When I got home from my sister's, I was in a hurry and tossed my stuff down and ran out the shop to meet a special visitor (more about that on Tuesday). Unfortunately, I forgot that the Wilton's White Chocolate was at nose level for Frosty & Belle. Frosty decided to help himself, to an entire bag of white chocolate and has been barfing all night. YUCK!! Fortunately, it was white chocolate and not milk chocolate or this could have a horrible ending. Before anyone scolds me, I've already punished my self!! Poor barfy puppy!!!
Hmm, well, sorry for the picture-less post. Be back soon.....

Go Steelers...
Shhh, don't tell anyone, but I'm not really a big football fan. I am, however, a big party fan, and since my friends are having a party and they are Steeler fans, I'll be an honorary Steeler fan.
In honor of my new favorite team, I made black and gold jello shooters! The black are "Black Cherry Cola and the gold are "Margarita". MMMMmmmm, they smell delicious. I'll let you know how they turn out.
Here's the recipe for the Black Cherry Cola Jello Shots:
1 - 6oz package of Black Cherry Jello
1 cup boiling cola
1 cup cold cola
1/2 cup Amaretto
1/2 cup spiced rum
Dissolve jello in boiling cola, stir until completely dissolved (at least 2 minutes). Add cold cola, Amaretto and spiced rum. Pour mixture into shot glasses, paper or plastic cups. (I like the 2.5 oz plastic cups available at most party stores) Chill in the refridgerator for at least 4 hours.
I also made these...

And this dip...
Here's the recipe:
Smoked Salmon Dip
1 6oz package of smoked salmon
2 packages of cream cheese (room temperature)
1 Tblspoon fresh dill (chopped)
1 Tblspoon minced green onion
1 Tblspoon lemon juice
pinch of salt and pepper
Mix ingredients togther and chill. Serve with crackers.
Note - Harry & David smoked salmon is delicious in this recipe...
Go Steelers!!!
